Weighbridge Operator Required
We are currently seeking a confident, reliable, and customer focused Weighbridge Operator to join a busy site on a temporary basis until December 2026, with the potential for extension subject to operational requirements and review.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. As the first point of contact for site visitors and customers, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the weighbridge facility while maintaining compliance with environmental legislation and site procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Act as the first point of contact for customers visiting the site.
- Deal with customer enquiries both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Provide professional advice and guidance regarding waste acceptance procedures.
- Check and question customer details and paperwork to ensure they are correct and compliant with legal responsibilities.
- Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.
- Enforce site regulations and waste acceptance protocols.
- Ensure all accepted waste complies with environmental permits, site regulations, and EPA Duty of Care legislation.
- Make informed decisions to ensure ongoing legislative compliance.
- Assist customers by providing guidance to help ensure correct documentation is provided on future visits.
- Record vehicle types, waste streams, and account information accurately.
- Input and verify site statistics and operational data.
- Utilise IT systems for card payments and validation of Waste Carriers Licences and charitable status.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and reports.
- Produce letters, reports, statistical information, and confidential documentation.
- Provide administrative support to managers and colleagues.
- Order office supplies and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Support day-to-day office functions as required.
- Handle cash transactions and customer payments.
- Undertake daily banking duties and ensure financial records are accurate.
- Raise requisitions and support routine financial administration.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration, or demonstrable relevant administrative experience.
- Excellent keyboard, IT, and data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to retain information and work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience handling cash and financial transactions is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
