Welder – Permanent Position

Location: Farnborough
Salary: £18.00–£20.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week

We’re recruiting for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment in Farnborough.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong MIG and TIG welding experience, particularly working with thin-gauge aluminium, who is comfortable producing complex fabricated components to detailed engineering drawings.
 
The Role
As a Welder/Fabricator, you’ll be responsible for:
  • MIG and TIG welding of aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Fabricating complex parts and sub-assemblies using thin-gauge materials, typically 1–6mm.
  • Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Setting up and safely operating welding equipment and associated tools.
  • Cutting, preparing, aligning and welding components to specification.
  • Using hand tools, grinders and manual/electric equipment to complete work.
  • Carrying out dimensional checks using equipment such as verniers and micrometers.
  • Completing production documentation and ensuring work meets the required quality standards.
  • Keeping the work area organised and contributing to 7S/continuous improvement activities.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 4+ years’ welding experience using both MIG and TIG.
  • Strong experience welding thin-gauge aluminium, ideally around 1–6mm.
  • 4+ years’ fabrication experience, including complex builds.
  • Good ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
  • Experience working with aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Confident use of grinders and other hand/electric tools.
  • Experience using inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
  • A positive, flexible and team-focused approach.
  • Experience working within a structured manufacturing environment.
Desirable: Experience within aerospace/aviation, defence manufacturing, non-destructive testing or quality inspection, and familiarity with quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone.
