A school in Southall is seeking a caring, proactive and experienced Welfare Officer to join their team from 2nd September 2026. This is initially a temporary contract with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the welfare, health and wellbeing of pupils across the school. You will work closely with pupils, parents/carers, staff and external professionals to ensure that pupils receive appropriate support and that welfare concerns are dealt with promptly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day welfare and pastoral support to pupils
- Managing and responding to pupil medical and welfare needs
- Administering first aid and responding to accidents and illnesses
- Maintaining accurate and confidential welfare and medical records
- Liaising with parents/carers regarding pupil welfare and health matters
- Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing and pastoral needs
- Working closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams where concerns arise
- Supporting the implementation of appropriate care plans and welfare procedures
- Maintaining a safe, caring and supportive environment for all pupils
- Working collaboratively with school staff and external agencies where required
- Have previous experience working in a school or educational setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS
- Hold a current and valid First Aid certificate
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be caring, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Be confident handling sensitive and confidential information
- Be organised, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Be available to start on 2nd September 2026
