Are you an experienced Woodworking or CNC Machinist looking for your next move? We're recruiting a Woodworking or CNC Machinist on behalf of a growing bespoke joinery manufacturer in Monton, Greater Manchester, who are looking to add an experienced machinist to their newly established workshop.
 
This is a great opportunity to join a business producing bespoke commercial joinery, retail furniture, pharmacy furniture and specialist shopfitting projects, with further investment planned in CNC and automated manufacturing.
 
Benefits:
  • Salary up to £34,000 - some wiggle room for the right candidate
  • Location: Monton, Greater Manchester
  • 40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm, some flexibility in times.

The Role
Working closely with the Workshop Manager and bench joinery team, you'll be responsible for accurately machining components ready for assembly.
 
You'll be involved in:
  • Setting up and operating CNC and woodworking machinery
  • Machining MDF, MFC, plywood, veneers, laminates and solid timber
  • Working from manufacturing drawings, cutting lists and production information
  • Loading CNC programmes and checking machining information
  • Nesting components to maximise material usage
  • Setting tooling and machining parameters
  • Carrying out first-off and dimensional quality checks
  • Organising and labelling completed components for assembly
  • Identifying drawing, material or machining issues before production progresses
  • Minimising material waste and managing sheet utilisation
  • Maintaining tooling and carrying out routine machine checks
  • Working to production deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy
Skills/Experience required:

You'll ideally have previous experience as a Woodworking Machinist, CNC Machinist, Furniture Machinist or Joinery Machinist, with experience in:
  • Bespoke joinery, furniture manufacturing, shopfitting or cabinet making
  • CNC routers and/or traditional woodworking machinery
  • Reading manufacturing drawings
  • MDF, MFC, plywood and other sheet materials
  • Measuring and dimensional quality checks
  • Tooling and cutting equipment
  • Working accurately in a production environment
 
CNC software experience such as Mozaik, Cabinet Vision or other CAD/CAM systems would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right person.
