Workshop Manager (Automotive)

We are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Manager to manage an automotive workshop for a very successful fleet management company based in Wickford, Essex. Experience as a workshop controller/manager in the motor industry is essential. As a Workshop Manager your responsibilities will include:
- To effectively manage a team and ensure the provision of services within the department are in line with Service needs, and the company’s commercial plan.
- To establish, implement and maintain effective procedures and administrative systems including day-to-day financial administration and contributing to administrative planning for the function.
- To represent the department/function at meetings and act as Service representative for initiatives as required.
- Maintain accurate customer records on available systems for all workshop processes.
- Book in customers vehicles, provide estimates using Autodata to allocate times, keep customers up to date on the progress of their vehicle (by phone and email), create invoices from completed job cards and take payment.
- Answer incoming calls professionally, addressing enquiries or directing them to the appropriate department.
- Work alongside the workshop technicians to ensure customers are kept informed.
- Support workshop technicians with administrative tasks and time tracking as necessary.
- Manage and ensure parts are being procured with the available resources.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and timelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Person Specification:
• Problem solving ability.
• IT literate (Microsoft office).
• Strong listening, verbal, written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be self-driven and pro-active.
• Valid Driving Licence.
• Good communication skills/excellent telephone manner.
• Able to work under pressure, in fast paced environment.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
• Previous experience within the motor trade industry .
• Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, or parts environment (preferred but not essential).
• Good all-round knowledge of automotive parts, and suppliers.
Salary range up to £43k basic (may be negotiable for the ideal candidate!) Plus quarterly bonuses after probationary period.
