We are recruiting for an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to lead the engineering operation at a busy PSV / bus depot.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of workshop performance, lead an engineering team and have a direct impact on the safety, reliability and availability of the fleet.
The Role of the Workshop Manager / Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer / Workshop Supervisor
Reporting to the senior engineering management team, you will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of the workshop and engineering team.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the engineering workshop.
- Lead, motivate and develop the engineering team, supporting training and performance.
- Ensure the fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with DVSA, Department for Transport, statutory and company requirements.
- Monitor fleet reliability, identify repeat defects and implement improvements to increase vehicle availability.
- Take ownership of engineering issues while driving a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
What you’ll need as the Workshop Manager / Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer / Workshop Supervisor
We're looking for an experienced engineering professional with the leadership skills to successfully manage a busy workshop.
You will ideally have:
- Recent Workshop Supervisor, Workshop Manager or Engineering Management experience.
- Experience within a PSV, PCV, HGV, bus or commercial vehicle fleet.
- A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop engineering teams.
- Strong technical, organisational and decision-making skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and improving fleet reliability.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high standards of safety, engineering quality and customer service.
Essential Requirements of the Workshop Manager / Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer / Workshop Supervisor
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Recent engineering supervisory or management experience.
- Experience within a PCV, PSV or HGV fleet environment.
