Yard Gatekeeper in Maidstone, Kent

We are looking for a reliable, organised and attentive Yard Gatekeeper to manage the entry and exit of vehicles and personnel at our clients yard in Maidstone.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring all HGV movements, including Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, ensuring that all drivers, staff and vehicles entering and leaving the site are correctly authorised and recorded.

This is an important role in maintaining site security, ensuring accurate vehicle movements and keeping the yard running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control all HGV movements into and out of the yard, including Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles.
• Record vehicle registrations accurately on arrival and departure.
• Record driver names and maintain accurate entry and exit logs.
• Ensure all staff entering and leaving the yard are correctly signed in and out.
• Check that the correct vehicles and tankers are being collected, delivered or moved in and out of the yard.
• Verify vehicle and tanker details against relevant collection and movement instructions.
• Ensure drivers are collecting the correct vehicles or tankers before allowing them to leave site.
• Monitor all site access and ensure only authorised personnel and vehicles enter the yard.
• Communicate with yard staff, transport teams and management regarding vehicle arrivals, departures and any discrepancies.
• Report any incorrect vehicle movements, missing paperwork or security concerns to management.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all gatehouse paperwork is completed correctly.
• Help maintain a safe, controlled and organised yard environment.

Skills & Experience Required

• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confident communication skills when dealing with HGV drivers and yard personnel.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Comfortable maintaining written records and completing paperwork.
• Previous experience in a gatehouse, transport, logistics or yard environment would be advantageous.
• An understanding of HGV operations and vehicle movements would be beneficial.

What We Offer

• Pay: £13.45 per hour.
• Hours: 08:00–16:00.
• Days: Monday to Friday.+ occasional Saturdays 
• Location: Maidstone, Kent.

This role is key to ensuring the correct drivers, staff, vehicles and tankers are accounted for at all times, helping maintain control, security and efficiency across the yard.
