We are currently recruiting for a Yard Manager to join the team at their manufacturing site in Dewsbury. This is a key leadership position, responsible for overseeing loading operations, stock management and despatch activities, whilst working closely with Production, Sales and customers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the site.

Reporting into the site leadership team, you will take ownership of the stock yard and loading areas, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.

Key responsibilities of the Yard Manager will include:

  • Managing and leading a team of loading operators, setting clear expectations and leading by example
  • Liaising with Sales teams and customers to support effective despatch operations
  • Updating and maintaining pick tickets and despatch documentation, ensuring full audit compliance
  • Taking ownership of the stock yard and loading areas
  • Working closely with Production to ensure the correct products are manufactured and available when required
  • Ensuring safe, accurate and efficient working practices are consistently followed
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the department
  • Promoting a strong Health & Safety and environmental culture
  • Managing month-end stock processes and quarterly finished goods stock takes
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multi-functional leadership team to deliver improvements across cost, quality and efficiency

The successful candidate will be a confident and practical leader with strong organisational and communication skills. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and able to balance operational priorities with the need to maintain high standards of safety, quality and service.

Experience required:

  • Flexible, self-motivated and proactive approach
  • Good attention to detail and visual awareness
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • A positive leadership approach, with the ability to lead by example
  • Previous experience within a modern manufacturing environment (desirable)
  • Understanding of concrete manufacturing processes (desirable)
  • Experience managing or coordinating a warehouse, logistics or loading operation (desirable)
