Accountant

Your new company
A respected independent accountancy practice in Frome is looking to appoint an Accountant to join its growing client services team. Working closely with local businesses, entrepreneurs and established SMEs, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial and tax services while helping clients make informed business decisions.

Your new role
Client Portfolio Management

• Managing a varied portfolio of business and individual clients.
• Acting as the primary contact for day-to-day client queries.
• Developing long-term relationships and providing an excellent client experience.
• Attending client meetings and discussing financial performance and planning opportunities.

Accounts & Compliance

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
• Preparing management accounts and financial reporting packs.
• Assisting with corporation tax and self-assessment compliance.
• Ensuring all statutory filing deadlines are met.

Advisory Support

• Supporting clients with budgeting and cashflow
• Advising on accounting systems and process improvements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Assisting business owners in understanding key financial performance indicators.

Team Collaboration

• Supporting and mentoring trainees and junior accountants.
• Reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
• Working collaboratively with Partners and Managers on complex assignments and advisory projects.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential Skills & Experience

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by substantial practice experience.
• Experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts production and taxation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Desirable

• Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or other cloud-based accounting platforms.
• Exposure to management accounts and business advisory services.
• Experience reviewing junior team members' work.
• Knowledge of modern accountancy technology and digital bookkeeping systems.
