An established healthcare organisation is looking for an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to support the delivery of an efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll service for over 3,000 employees across Ireland.


Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you'll coordinate day-to-day payroll operations, provide leadership to the payroll team, and play an integral role in driving process improvements, compliance, and service excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking to take on greater responsibility within a growing organisation.


The Role

As Assistant Payroll Manager, you'll help oversee multiple payroll cycles while ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, on time, and in line with statutory requirements. You'll act as a key escalation point for payroll queries, support the development of payroll processes, and contribute to projects that enhance efficiency and controls.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls
  • Support and supervise the payroll team, ensuring high standards of accuracy and service delivery
  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager to achieve departmental objectives and drive continuous improvement
  • Assist in developing and enhancing payroll processes, controls, and reporting
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and remains compliant with all statutory and company requirements
  • Act as a key point of contact for payroll queries and escalations
  • Support payroll projects, system enhancements, audits, and business change initiatives
  • Maintain robust payroll controls and ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal policies


About You

We're looking for a payroll professional who combines strong technical payroll knowledge with the ability to coordinate workloads and support a high-performing team.


You'll have:

  • 3-5 years' payroll experience
  • Previous experience supervising, coordinating, or leading payroll activities
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • An IPASS qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
