Associate Electrical Engineer - UK

Purpose of the Job:

This is an early-career electrical engineering role based in our Client's London office, supporting the design and delivery of electrical systems for data centre and mission-critical facilities in the UK and wider Europe.

The role supports senior engineers across the design lifecycle, developing technical knowledge and practical experience within a high-performance mission-critical delivery environment.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Support electrical design delivery on data centre and mission-critical projects
  2. Prepare calculations, drawings and documentation under senior engineer supervision
  3. Develop technical knowledge of data centre electrical systems and UK regulatory requirements
  4. Assist with coordination across disciplines and project documentation
  5. Build foundational experience towards professional chartership

Job Accountabilities:

Design Support

  1. Support the preparation of electrical calculations, specifications and drawings under supervision.
  2. Assist in developing concept, schematic and detailed design deliverables.
  3. Help ensure design outputs align with applicable UK and international standards.
  4. Support senior engineers in resolving design and coordination queries.

Documentation & Coordination

  1. Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation and design records.
  2. Support coordination with mechanical, public health, structural and architectural disciplines.
  3. Assist with tracking design comments, RFIs and technical submissions.

Technical Development

  1. Develop working knowledge of data centre electrical systems, standards and best practice.
  2. Participate in training, mentoring and on-the-job learning opportunities.
  3. Progress towards professional chartership (IET) under company support schemes.

Construction Support (Limited)

  1. Support senior engineers with construction-stage documentation and technical queries.
  2. Assist in preparing site inspection records and technical reports where required.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience required across:

  1. Foundational knowledge of Data Centre and mission-critical electrical systems.
  2. Basic understanding of resilience and redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N).
  3. LV/MV distribution, standby power and UPS system fundamentals.
  4. Familiarity with CAD / BIM design tools used in electrical engineering.
  5. Awareness of UK electrical standards (BS 7671) and Building Regulations relevant to data centre facilities.

Qualifications & Education

  1. Degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited university).

Experience

  1. 0 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  2. Exposure to or strong interest in Data Centre / mission-critical projects.
  3. Experience with design software and engineering calculation tools is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Working towards Incorporated / Chartered Engineer status (IET) or equivalent accreditation.
  2. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  3. Good communication and coordination skills within a project team.
  4. Interest in developing a career within data centre engineering.
