About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Structures Engineer to join our Structures team, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer – Structures.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering graduate, apprentice, or candidate with relevant manufacturing and engineering experience to develop their career within an aerospace environment.
Working alongside Senior Structures Engineers, you will support product weight management and develop your understanding of structural engineering activities, including Finite Element (FE) modelling and stress documentation.
The role operates in a high-pressure environment where maintaining design intent, accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain product weight reports.
- Manage design weight records and ensure information is accurate and up to date.
- Support Senior Structures Engineers with product weight management activities.
- Develop an understanding of Finite Element (FE) model creation.
- Develop an understanding of structural stress documentation.
- Ensure allocated structural designs comply with applicable requirements and company processes.
- Compile and deliver engineering documentation to the required standard and within agreed timescales.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing teams to support project objectives.
- Travel to company and supplier locations as required to support project activities.

Knowledge, Education and Skills
Essential
- Basic mathematical skills and an understanding of geometric formulas.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to see tasks through to completion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to follow established company processes and engineering requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
Desirable
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant engineering or manufacturing apprenticeship.
- Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Experience with CATIA V5 would be advantageous.
- An understanding of structural engineering, FE modelling or stress analysis.
Professional Experience
No previous professional experience is required.
This role would suit an engineering graduate, apprentice, or candidate looking to begin or develop a career in aerospace structures engineering.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required by project needs.
- Flexible approach to working across company and supplier locations.
- The primary base location is the Bournemouth facility.
- Travel between sites may be required to support project activities, PM functions and supplier visits.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
