Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Bolton to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join their pastoral and student support team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting student wellbeing, and helping pupils remain engaged in education. Working closely with the pastoral team, senior leaders, teachers, and external agencies, you will provide targeted interventions for students who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group behavioural support interventions.
- Supporting students who display challenging behaviour, helping them develop positive coping strategies and self-regulation skills.
- Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and attendance.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to implement behaviour support plans.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Supporting reintegration programmes for students returning from suspensions or alternative provisions.
- Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals where required.
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment across the school.
The Ideal Candidate
Please note: Only applicants with previous experience working within schools and education settings will be considered.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of one year's experience working within a UK secondary school.
- Experience in a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support, Learning Mentor, Inclusion, Attendance, or similar school-based role.
- Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Alternative Provision (AP), or a pastoral support setting is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
- The ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable and disengaged young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for students.
