Job Description

We are seeking experienced CAT 2 inspectors to join our growing Industrial team to provide Inspection and Certification of pressurised static equipment e.g. vessels, tanks, piping, relief devices, to meet regulatory and client requirements.

You will prepare and review Written Schemes of Examination (WSE), define preparation requirements, and carry out examinations in accordance with these schemes. The role includes performing simple NDT (e.g. ultrasonic thickness checks, magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing), coordinating external NDT providers for more extensive or specialist methods, assessing deterioration, reviewing design calculations, sentencing defects, coordinating repairs, and preparing clear, illustrated reports. You will also participate in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) studies.

Requirements: - 

  • You have an HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and UKAS RG 2 competence for in‑service inspection of pressure systems.
  • Ideally, you hold or are working towards Incorporated Engineer status,
  • have a mechanical engineering background with experience in the chemical and/or oil and gas sector, and understand fabrication and repair of pressure equipment as well as non‑destructive examination techniques.
  • You communicate well in writing and verbally, have a strong eye for detail, follow procedures accurately, understand engineering principles,
  • can make and defend difficult decisions, work effectively with others, and preferably bring some people‑management experience.

Successful applicants must meet the UKAS definition for category 2 inspection engineers as seen below:

Category 2. Incorporated Engineer as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate HNC with relevant experience, (vocational qualification level 4) including at least 5 years’ experience within a relevant engineering discipline of which at least one year shall have been spent working within an engineering discipline associated with the relevant field of inspection.
