Job Description
A leading European data centre delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the delivery of a major mission-critical infrastructure project in Finland.
The successful candidate will manage and coordinate civil engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with design consultants, subcontractors, construction teams, utility providers, and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate civil engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
- Review and coordinate designs covering site development, earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, foundations, and external works.
- Ensure civil designs comply with applicable regulations, Eurocodes, project specifications, and client standards.
- Coordinate civil requirements with structural, architectural, MEP, CSA, and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor civil design and construction milestones to support programme delivery.
- Review design proposals, calculations, technical submissions, construction methodologies, and value engineering opportunities.
- Support procurement through technical review of civil scopes, tenders, material specifications, and contractor submissions.
- Monitor civil construction costs, quantities, resources, and project progress.
- Review and validate drawings, calculations, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables.
- Manage and coordinate civil subcontractors, consultants, utility providers, suppliers, and temporary works designers.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Identify and resolve civil design, constructability, coordination, and installation issues.
- Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
- Coordinate delivery and installation of civil infrastructure, including drainage, underground services, roads, hardstanding, and utility connections.
- Oversee quality control and ensure civil works meet project and client requirements.
- Coordinate civil activities with planning, scheduling, and construction management teams.
- Support commissioning, handover, and close-out, including as-built records, certifications, and technical documentation.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, quality, and risk management.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination workshops.
- Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, and regulatory bodies regarding approvals, permits, inspections, and infrastructure connections.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years' relevant engineering experience within industrial, commercial, mission-critical, data centre, or complex construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, infrastructure design, Eurocodes, and relevant international standards.
- Experience with structural design and engineering analysis software, AutoCAD, and BIM environments.
- Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
