As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC lathes to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances. Working from engineering drawings, you will ensure products meet quality standards while maintaining efficient production targets.Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting, operating and programming CNC machines.
  • Producing precision-machined components to tight tolerances.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Selecting and setting tooling, offsets and cutting parameters.
  • Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cycle-time reductions.
  • Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the machine shop.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist.
  • Ability to set and operate CNC lathes independently.
  • Experience editing or creating CNC programmes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Apprenticeship or engineering qualification would be advantageous.
