About the Opportunity
An ambitious and rapidly growing supplier of CNC machinery is seeking an experienced CNC Manager to lead its technical department and support the next phase of business growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with a strong background in CNC machinery, field service, installations, repairs, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will oversee the engineering and warehouse teams while driving continuous improvements across technical operations, customer support, product quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of field service engineers and workshop operatives.
- Ensure engineers have the tools, equipment, and resources required to perform their roles effectively.
- Develop, implement, and maintain efficient technical systems and processes.
- Drive continuous improvements in quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate engineer schedules, installations, service visits, and maintenance activities.
- Oversee spare parts planning and stock availability to minimise customer downtime.
- Deliver internal technical training and support the ongoing development of the engineering team.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, engineering drawings, machine records, and product information.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for developing people, improving systems, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Essential Requirements
- Strong background in CNC machinery or industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Previous hands-on experience in machinery installation, servicing, repairs, fault finding, and commissioning.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and coordinating technical operations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, industrial controls, wiring, controllers, and mechanical components.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using cloud-based scheduling or task management software.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, sales, and customer support functions.
Desirable
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with CNC routers, fibre laser cutting machinery, or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of CE marking, UKCA requirements, and machinery compliance.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices.
