Working Pattern:          Typically, 4 Days on Site and 1 Day Working from Home

Salary:                             £65k - £71,000 with potential for up to  £77,500 plus pkg

12% Pension, Health, 25 Days

Help Deliver One of Europe's Most Complex Tunnel MEP Projects

Charlton Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of HS2 Ltd for a Construction Manager MEP Construction Assurance to join the client team overseeing the £160 million Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health fit out of the 5 Ventilation Shafts and 5 Headhouses (large plant style buildings) spread across the 16km Chiltern Twin Bored Tunnels being delivered by Align Joint Venture.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work client side on one of Europe's most technically challenging infrastructure projects, ensuring critical MEP systems are delivered safely, to the required quality and fully integrated ahead of railway commissioning.

Working alongside Align JV, you'll provide independent construction assurance throughout installation, testing and commissioning, ensuring works comply with HS2 standards, Employer's Requirements and approved designs.

Rather than managing a contractor workforce, you'll act as the client's representative, providing visible site leadership, monitoring progress and quality, identifying risks and assuring successful delivery of the MEP works, NG Bailey is the MEP Sub Contractor.

The Project

The Align Joint Venture is delivering approximately 21.6km of railway infrastructure, including the 16km Chiltern Twin Bored Tunnels, portal structures, ventilation shafts and associated infrastructure.

The £160 million MEP package includes MEP fit out of 5 ventilation shafts & 5 Headhouses, installing critical environmental, safety, and power systems:

  • High and low voltage electrical distribution
  • Tunnel ventilation systems
  • Fire detection, suppression and life safety systems
  • Mechanical and public health services
  • lighting and emergency lighting
  • Building Management Systems
  • Pumping and drainage systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Plumbing and Drainage

The Role

Working within the integrated HS2 delivery team, you'll oversee construction activities throughout the installation, testing and commissioning phases, providing assurance that works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual and technical requirements.

You'll monitor contractor performance, review construction documentation, inspect completed works and work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Commercial, Systems Integration and Commissioning teams to resolve issues before they impact programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide client side construction assurance across all MEP installation activities
  • Monitor mechanical, electrical and public health installation works
  • Review RAMS, Work Package Plans, ITPs, WIRs and commissioning documentation
  • Verify installation quality and compliance with approved designs
  • Monitor testing, commissioning and system handover activities
  • Identify construction risks, Early Warnings and interface issues
  • Support Project Managers with technical construction advice
  • Participate in site inspections, safety tours and commissioning reviews
  • Maintain accurate electronic site diaries and construction records
  • Build collaborative relationships with Align JV, designers, commissioning engineers and HS2 stakeholders

About You

We're looking for experienced MEP construction professionals with major infrastructure experience gained on rail, tunnels, highways, aviation, utilities, nuclear or other complex engineering programmes.  You

MEP Construction Manager

Mechanical Construction Manager

Electrical Construction Manager

Building Services Manager

MEP Project Manager

You'll also have:

  • MEP qualifications Degree, HNC, City Guilds or equivilient
  • Experience delivering complex MEP packages valued at £30 million or above
  • Strong understanding of testing, commissioning and systems integration
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems, life safety systems and critical infrastructure
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and commissioning documentation
  • CSCS Card and SMSTS qualification
  • Ability to commute to the Rickmansworth project on a daily basis
