Contracts Manager – Temp to Perm

We are working with an established maintenance and drainage contractor who is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.

The company specialises in drainage installation, maintenance and associated groundworks across supermarket and retail sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager with a background in groundworks, civils, drainage, construction or retail maintenance who is looking for a varied role with long-term progression.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing multiple contracts from initial instruction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and to the required standard. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, site teams and internal stakeholders, while maintaining control of programmes, costs, variations and performance.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful commercial and operational management of a portfolio of drainage and groundworks contracts, predominantly across supermarket and retail sites.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing contracts from initial instruction through to completion and handover
  • Overseeing multiple drainage, groundworks and civils projects simultaneously
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Coordinating subcontractors, site teams, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Monitoring contract performance, programmes, budgets and resources
  • Managing project costs, valuations, variations and additional works
  • Identifying commercial opportunities and ensuring works are delivered profitably
  • Reviewing scope of works, specifications and client requirements
  • Managing subcontractor performance and ensuring works are completed to the required standard
  • Carrying out regular site visits to monitor progress and address operational issues
  • Ensuring health & safety, quality and compliance requirements are maintained
  • Providing clients with regular updates, reports and progress information
  • Identifying and resolving contractual, operational and commercial issues
  • Supporting the planning and allocation of labour, plant and resources
  • Ensuring projects are delivered
