DOMESTIC ABUSE REFUGE WORKER (WOMEN) – EASTLEIGH
Salary: £27,000 - £28,000
Hours: 37 per week (Monday–Thursday 9:30am–5:30pm, Friday 9:30am–5pm)
Contract: Permanent

The focus of this role is on preventing domestic abuse by providing support, advice and assistance to adults in the community who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support colleagues and partner agencies through awareness raising and institutional advocacy to provide the best possible service for victims of domestic abuse
  • Provide advice by telephone and face to face, helping victims/survivors understand the services available and make choices about their future
  • Deliver group work for residents, former residents and women in the community, enabling ongoing advice, support and contact with other survivors
  • Ensure a high standard of information, advice and temporary accommodation for women and their children who have suffered mental or physical abuse
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the refuge, including maintaining the building in good order and meeting health and safety requirements

Requirements:

  • Open to female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement, Equality Act 2010)
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Applicants must be living free from abuse, as the work involved may be triggering for those with past trauma
  • Experience supporting women affected by domestic abuse, ideally within a refuge or residential setting
  • Full UK driving licence desirable
