Salary:                         £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Hours:                          37.5 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8am – 5pm & Friday 8am – 12.30pm
 

Are you an experienced Electrical/Controls Design Engineer with a background in industrial automation?

We are looking for a skilled and detail-focused Electrical/Controls Design Engineer to join an established engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong electrical design experience who enjoys working on bespoke machinery and seeing projects through from design to completion.

Working closely with the Controls Manager, Mechanical Design Engineers and Electricians, you will be responsible for developing electrical and pneumatic designs, producing technical documentation and supporting the successful build and implementation of machinery.

Key responsibilities;

  • Develop electrical and pneumatic designs and drawings.
  • Produce functional design specifications.
  • Create and manage parts lists and machine build specifications.
  • Maintain accurate revision and version control of drawings and documentation.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure consistent and integrated designs.
  • Liaise with Electricians to ensure machines are built in accordance with design specifications.
  • Monitor project progress and report updates, timescales and potential improvements to management.
  • Work collaboratively with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Provide timescales and technical information to support costing and project scheduling.
  • Provide customer support and assistance with electrical issues where required.
  • Develop and maintain technical systems, documentation, manuals and training materials.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to designs, processes and documentation.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within industrial automation.
  • Experience using electrical CAD packages.
  • Strong electrical design and documentation skills.
  • An understanding of pneumatic design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
  • The ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • A positive, hands-on approach and the confidence to rise to new challenges.
