Behaviour Mentor – SEN School – Manchester

Location: Manchester
Salary: £95–£115 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term

Engage Education are currently recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join an SEN school in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is confident supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, autism and additional needs and wants to make a real difference to their education and development.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral team to provide targeted support to pupils who may experience barriers to learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and support
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural and emotional needs
  • Helping pupils manage emotions and develop self-regulation strategies
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Supporting pupils during challenging or dysregulated situations
  • Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
  • Supporting behaviour plans and individualised strategies
  • Helping pupils re-engage with learning following incidents or periods of absence

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm, patient and resilient
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Able to build strong relationships with young people
  • Consistent and positive in their approach
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs

Experience in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching or similar settings would be highly desirable.

Teaching qualifications are not essential — we are interested in candidates with the right attitude, experience and personality.
