Finance Director

Finance Director | International Logistics | West London

I’m exclusively representing a large, international logistics and freight forwarding business with turnover approaching £1 billion, as they look to appoint an experienced Finance Director to lead their UK finance function.

This is a high-profile, commercially focused role and an opportunity to join the UK Leadership Team, partnering closely with senior operational leadership, Group Finance and Board-level stakeholders.

📍 Location: West London 
💰 Salary: £120,000–£170,000 + package
Flexible depending on experience and calibre

The role

The Finance Director will have overall responsibility for the UK finance function, providing both strategic financial leadership and hands-on operational oversight.

This isn't a purely corporate or reporting-focused FD position. The successful candidate will be expected to remain close to the detail, whilst also acting as a trusted commercial adviser to the wider business.

Key areas of responsibility include:

🔹 Financial leadership, governance and reporting
🔹 Budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis
🔹 IFRS, statutory accounts and tax compliance
🔹 Working capital, cash flow and treasury
🔹 AP, AR and credit control
🔹 Commercial finance and business partnering
🔹 Customer, product and trade-lane profitability
🔹 Process improvement, automation and finance transformation
🔹 Risk management and internal controls
🔹 Acquisitions, integrations and wider business transformation
🔹 Leadership and development of the UK finance team
🔹 Management of onshore, offshore and shared-service finance resources

The UK operation is also supported by a Global Shared Services team based in Hong Kong, with the Finance Director working collaboratively across the UK and Hong Kong finance teams.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant senior finance leadership experience gained within a large, complex organisation.

You should have:

✔️ Experience as a Finance Director, Financial Controller, Head of Finance or equivalent
✔️ Strong technical accounting, IFRS and statutory reporting experience
✔️ A hands-on understanding of AP, AR, working capital and treasury
✔️ Strong commercial finance and business partnering capability
✔️ Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams
✔️ Confidence operating with senior executives and Board-level stakeholders
✔️ Experience within freight forwarding, logistics, transport, supply chain or a related sector
✔️ Experience working across international, shared-service or offshore finance environments

Experience of private equity-backed businesses, CargoWise/ERP systems, acquisitions, integrations and finance transformation would be highly advantageous.
