FP&A Consultant

Vivid Resourcing Ltd

We are seeking an experienced FP&A Consultant to join a leading financial services organisation on an interim basis during a period of leadership transition. Following the departure of the FP&A Director, the existing Head of FP&A (formerly the deputy) has stepped into the leadership role and requires an experienced consultant to provide hands-on operational support while also helping assess and strengthen the wider FP&A function ahead of the appointment of a permanent Director.

This is a broad role combining day-to-day financial planning and analysis responsibilities with strategic review work, requiring an individual who can quickly establish credibility with senior stakeholders and identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the interim Head of FP&A with the day-to-day running of the FP&A function.
  • Deliver core FP&A activities including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, monthly management reporting and variance analysis.
  • Produce meaningful financial analysis and insight to support executive decision making.
  • Partner with Finance, Commercial and Operational stakeholders to challenge assumptions and improve financial performance.
  • Review the existing FP&A operating model, identifying opportunities to improve processes, governance, reporting and controls.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the FP&A team, including organisational structure, roles and responsibilities, capability, capacity and succession planning.
  • Evaluate reporting packs, planning processes, forecasting accuracy and management information to identify areas for improvement.
  • Document findings and provide recommendations on future-state organisation design, resource requirements and process enhancements.
  • Support knowledge transfer, continuity planning and onboarding preparation for the incoming permanent FP&A Director.
  • Assist with ad hoc strategic finance projects as required throughout the transition period.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post-qualified experience.
  • Demonstrable experience within FP&A leadership roles, ideally within financial services or other highly regulated environments.
  • Proven track record delivering interim finance assignments during periods of organisational change or transformation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into strategic recommendations.
  • Experience reviewing and improving finance functions, operating models and team structures.
  • Advanced financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage senior executives and influence decision making.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience using planning and reporting tools such as Anaplan, Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Power BI or equivalent desirable.
