Freelance Site Manager – Enabling Works – Redbridge

£270–£290 per day CIS | Immediate Start | Minimum 4 Weeks

A well-established construction contractor is looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join an enabling works scheme in Redbridge, with an immediate start available.

The project involves the dismantling and reconstruction of an existing retaining wall as part of a wider enabling works package. The successful Site Manager will take responsibility for coordinating the works on site, managing subcontractors and ensuring the project is delivered safely and efficiently.

The Project

  • Existing 15ft retaining wall requiring dismantlement and reconstruction
  • Wall is currently leaning and requires removal
  • Specialist subcontractor already appointed to undertake the dismantlement works
  • Works will include propping, phased scaffolding erection, wall dismantlement and rebuild
  • Minimum 4-week programme, with potential for further work

The Role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities on site
  • Coordinating and supervising subcontractors
  • Ensuring works are carried out safely and in accordance with the programme
  • Overseeing temporary works, propping and scaffolding activities
  • Managing the phased dismantlement and reconstruction of the retaining wall
  • Maintaining site records, RAMS and health & safety standards
  • Liaising with the project team and subcontractors to ensure smooth delivery

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on construction or civil engineering projects
  • Strong Civils / enabling works experience
  • Experience managing subcontractors and complex site activities
  • Understanding of temporary works and propping
  • Temporary Works Coordinator experience/certification would be highly advantageous, but is not essential
  • Valid SMSTS
  • Valid CSCS
  • First Aid
  • Strong health & safety awareness

Rate: £270–£290 per day
