Are you a qualified accountant who wants to do more than report the numbers?
Bidwells is looking for a Fund Analyst to join our Investment and Property Management team in Cambridge, providing a unique opportunity for a qualified accountant to apply their expertise within property investment and portfolio management. Working across significant long-term endowment portfolios, you’ll go beyond traditional financial reporting, using modelling, investment appraisal and performance analysis to provide insight that directly supports commercial and investment decision-making. For an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant who loves getting underneath the numbers, this is an exciting opportunity to broaden your expertise and develop a career at the intersection of finance, property and investment.
Why Bidwells?
Bidwells is a leading UK property consultancy with more than 185 years of history. With over 600 people across 11 offices, we advise on some of the country's most significant long-term property portfolios for institutional, charitable and endowment clients. We're also a certified B Corp.
For someone coming from an accounting background, this role offers something particularly compelling: the chance to take the technical skills you've already built and apply them in a much broader commercial and investment environment.
You'll work on interesting, challenging projects, gain exposure to high-profile long-term endowment portfolios and develop your expertise in property investment while having real influence on the information and analysis used to support client decisions.
What you'll be doing
You'll have a varied remit combining fund reporting, investment analysis and commercial modelling, including:
Preparing accounts, forecasts and high-quality quarterly reporting packs for client committees
Analysing portfolio performance and monitoring performance against budget
Building robust financial models to assess investment and commercial business cases
Appraising development opportunities, capital expenditure projects, acquisitions and disposals
Assessing returns using measures including IRR, NPV and cash-on-cash returns
Running sensitivity, scenario and risk analysis to understand different outcomes
Turning complex financial information into clear commercial insights for decision-makers
Using data analysis and visualisation to bring portfolio performance to life
Identifying opportunities to make reporting and analytical processes smarter and more effective
What we're looking for
Our successful applicant will be qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with excellent Excel and financial modelling capability. You'll be comfortable building models from first principles, analysing performance against budgets and explaining what the numbers mean commercially.
You'll also bring:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Commercial judgement and the confidence to assess a business case
The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
A proactive, collaborative approach
A genuine interest in property and investment
A genuine appetite to learn and develop your investment expertise
Previous financial modelling experience within property, investment or corporate finance would be particularly valuable, as would experience with Power BI, MRI or Argus. CFA study or another relevant investment or property qualification would also be advantageous, but isn't essential.
