Our 2-year salaried teacher training programme gives you the chance to work in a secondary school, build your classroom experience and work towards becoming a qualified teacher — all while earning a salary.
You'll be supported throughout the programme by experienced teachers and mentors, giving you the opportunity to learn on the job and develop your confidence along the way.
Year 1 – Gain Experience in the ClassroomYour first year will be spent working as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school in Bournemouth.
It's a great opportunity to get a feel for life in a school, build relationships with pupils and gain valuable classroom experience before moving into formal teacher training.
You'll be involved in:

Delivering lessons using resources prepared by teachers

Managing classrooms and supporting positive behaviour

Helping pupils with their learning

Working alongside teachers and school staff

Observing experienced teachers

Taking part in training and development

Building your confidence and understanding of secondary education
The aim of your first year is to give you a solid grounding in school life and prepare you for the next step.
Year 2 – Train to Become a Qualified TeacherIn your second year, you'll move into formal teacher training while continuing to work in a school.
You'll work towards achieving:

PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
As your confidence and experience grow, you'll gradually take on more responsibility for planning and delivering lessons.
You'll also receive ongoing mentoring, support and professional development throughout the year.

You'll need:

A UK bachelor's degree or equivalent

A genuine interest in becoming a teacher
You don't need previous teaching experience. The programme is suitable for recent graduates as well as those looking to move into teaching from another career.
