We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable multi-franchise approved commercial vehicle dealership in Gloucester, for the position of General Manager. Duties of a General Manager:
  • Take overall responsibility for the site, ensuring operational excellence across departments including service, parts, and sales
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and business targets
  • Monitor compliance with statutory regulations, manufacturer standards, and health & safety policies
  • Control departmental and site costs to optimise profitability as a General Manager
  • Oversee workshop scheduling, resource management, and workflow to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate with marketing, IT, and other internal departments to uphold company values and policies
  • Drive the achievement of KPIs through strong leadership and hands-on management
  • Develop and support apprentices and staff, conducting regular performance reviews and personal development planning
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships and undertake performance analysis for continuous improvement
  • Promote health and safety initiatives, including risk assessments and training activities
  • Foster a positive team environment, encouraging professional growth and high standards of service
Requirements of a General Manager:
  • Proven experience as a Service Manager, Aftersales Manager, or in a similar leadership role within a medium to large franchise-approved automotive dealership
  • Previous management experience at a general management level is advantageous
  • Effective leadership and team development skills
  • Strong operational and financial management acumen
  • IT literacy with proficiency in relevant systems
  • Valid UK driving licence with minimal points
  • Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Gloucester
  • Experience working within a commercial vehicle dealership or fleet maintenance environment is beneficial but non-essential
