Are you a recent Planning graduate looking to kick-start your career with an ambitious and growing planning consultancy?

We are currently working with a well-established and growing planning consultancy based in Battlesbridge, Essex, who are looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is keen to build a career in planning and gain genuine hands-on experience across a broad range of projects. You'll be joining a supportive consultancy environment where you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, client-facing skills and understanding of the planning system.



The Role

As a Graduate Town Planner, you'll work alongside experienced planning professionals and become involved in a variety of planning projects from the outset.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
  • Undertaking planning research and policy analysis.
  • Reviewing local and national planning policy.
  • Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with planning appeals and other development management matters.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting senior members of the team with client instructions and project work.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to planning legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Developing your understanding of the planning process and the wider property and development sector.


About You

We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Planning graduate who is keen to establish themselves within the private sector.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Planning & Development or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in the UK planning system and property development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good research and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the location and nature of the role.

RTPI accreditation or progress towards chartership would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right graduate.
