Health & Safety Advisor
We Are Footprint are working with a well-established home improvements business who are looking to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Inspector / Advisor to join their team.
This is a hands-on role covering multiple locations, carrying out inspections, audits and risk assessments while helping the business maintain high standards across health & safety and environmental compliance.
The Role
- Carry out regular site safety inspections and audits across the business.
- Complete and review risk assessments and identify ways to reduce risks.
- Deliver H&S inductions for new starters.
- Manage training records and ensure employees have the relevant training for their roles.
- Support accident and incident investigations, including RIDDOR reporting where required.
- Keep up to date with changes to health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Record audit findings and produce reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Support monthly H&S meetings and communicate important safety updates across the business.
- Help develop and maintain H&S policies, procedures and minimum standards.
- Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees.
- Assist with H&S training, presentations, newsletters and safety briefings.
- Work independently across different locations and help drive improvements in safety standards.
About You
We're looking for someone with previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within construction, home improvements, retail or a similar operational environment.
You'll ideally have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- TechIOSH membership.
- IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management would be beneficial.
- Experience with accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Good knowledge of current H&S and environmental legislation.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Confident delivering training and inductions.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- A practical approach with good attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the working area.
This would suit someone who enjoys being out and about, visiting sites and working directly with operational teams, rather than being purely office-based.
