Health & Safety Advisor – Commercial Fit Out / Refurbishment

Bristol City Centre | £50M+ Refurbishment & Retrofit Scheme

We are working with a leading commercial fit out contractor delivering a major £50M+ refurbishment and retrofit project in Bristol City Centre, transforming a large-scale development into a high-quality modern workspace.

Due to continued project progression, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the project team and help maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional with experience working on major construction, refurbishment or commercial fit out projects.

The Role

• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of the project health and safety strategy
• Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks
• Providing practical health and safety advice and guidance to the project team
• Working closely with site management, subcontractors and project stakeholders
• Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and project procedures
• Assisting with the preparation and review of RAMS, risk assessments and method statements
• Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations
• Monitoring site standards and identifying areas for improvement
• Delivering or supporting toolbox talks, inductions and health and safety briefings
• Maintaining accurate health and safety records and documentation
• Supporting the promotion of a positive health and safety culture across the project

About You

• Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Advisor within construction
• Experience working on commercial fit out, refurbishment or retrofit projects would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation and best practice
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification
• IOSH membership would be advantageous
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and site-based health and safety requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders
• A proactive, practical and collaborative approach to health and safety
