Health, Safety & Quality Manager in Sheffield, South Yorkshire

I am recruiting for a Health, Safety & Quality Manager to join a well-established UK manufacturing business. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to lead site health and safety activities while maintaining and developing integrated management systems aligned to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 standards.

Working closely with senior leadership, operations, engineering, quality and HR teams, you will play a key role in driving compliance, supporting continuous improvement and building a positive safety culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day health and safety activities across the manufacturing operation.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and legislative requirements.
• Support the maintenance and development of the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001, internal standards and customer requirements.
• Manage key documentation including policies, procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work, audit records and corrective action plans.
• Plan and conduct internal health, safety and quality audits.
• Coordinate non-conformances, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities through to completion.
• Lead and support accident, near miss and process non-conformance investigations using structured root cause analysis techniques.
• Provide practical health, safety and quality support for engineering projects, process changes, new equipment installation and contractor activities.
• Develop and deliver training, toolbox talks and communication campaigns.
• Monitor and analyse performance data, reporting on KPIs, audit findings, risks and improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness arrangements including fire safety, evacuation procedures, first aid provision and emergency drills.
• Support external certification audits, customer audits and management review meetings.
• Assist with environmental management activities where required.

About You

• A degree in Health & Safety, Quality Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Around 10 years' experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• Experience conducting audits and managing corrective actions.
• Proven ability to investigate incidents and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence influencing and challenging stakeholders at all levels.
• A practical, visible and collaborative approach with a willingness to spend time on the shop floor.
• Experience supporting environmental systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
