As a HLTA, you'll play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning, leading whole-class sessions when required, and helping pupils reach their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Role

Working closely with teachers and school staff, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering engaging learning experiences while promoting confidence, independence and achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned learning activities and lead whole-class teaching when required.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Build positive and effective relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and carers.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Adapt confidently to different classroom environments and school settings.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of individual pupils where appropriate.
  • Encourage pupil engagement and maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Bring enthusiasm, flexibility and a positive attitude to every placement.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A recognised HLTA qualification (or equivalent qualification suitable for HLTA duties).
  • Recent experience supporting teaching and learning within UK primary schools.
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A nurturing, child-centred approach with a genuine passion for education.
  • The ability to build positive relationships across the whole school community.
  • A flexible, reliable and proactive approach to work.
  • Two professional references, including your most recent employer.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
