I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to join a well-established Local Authority on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy Housing Management team, delivering a customer-focused tenancy and neighbourhood management service while working closely with residents and partner agencies to create sustainable tenancies and thriving communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a designated patch, providing comprehensive tenancy and neighbourhood management services.
  • Investigate and resolve tenancy breaches, including anti-social behaviour (ASB), nuisance and other tenancy-related issues.
  • Carry out tenancy sign-ups, accompanied viewings and ensure new tenants understand their tenancy responsibilities.
  • Support tenants with rent payment expectations and signpost or assist with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit applications where appropriate.
  • Manage tenancy changes, including successions, assignments and mutual exchanges.
  • Conduct estate inspections, working alongside internal teams to improve neighbourhood standards and resolve environmental issues.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to support vulnerable residents and promote tenancy sustainment.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and make appropriate referrals in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Encourage resident engagement and support community involvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to achieving service performance targets.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer or Tenancy Management Officer within a Local Authority, Housing Association or similar social housing environment.
  • Experience managing tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour cases and general housing management issues.
  • Good understanding of housing legislation, tenancy management and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Experience working with partner agencies to deliver positive outcomes for residents.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
