Salary: £27,000–£30,000
Full-time or Part-time Considered
We are recruiting an HR Assistant to join an established business operating within the food manufacturing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in Human Resources, gaining experience across a broad range of HR activities within a busy, multi-site environment.
Working closely with the HR Manager, you will provide day-to-day administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, training, payroll and employee engagement. The role would suit an organised, approachable and detail-focused individual who enjoys working with people and is keen to learn.
Previous HR experience is beneficial but not essential for someone with strong administrative skills and a genuine interest in developing within HR.
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate employee records, HR systems and confidential documentation.
- Preparing HR letters, contracts, forms and other employee paperwork.
- Supporting absence management, probation reviews and general HR processes.
- Assisting with four-weekly payroll preparation, including checking timesheets, overtime, shift allowances, holidays and sickness information.
- Processing new starter and leaver details, arranging interviews and coordinating onboarding documentation.
- Maintaining the training matrix, coordinating training bookings and monitoring certification expiry dates.
- Supporting employee communications, engagement activities and HR initiatives.
- Assisting with HR reporting, spreadsheets, audits and the maintenance of accurate records.
- Responding to routine employee queries and liaising with managers, Finance and external payroll providers.
- Providing general HR support across production, engineering, warehouse, technical and office teams.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised, methodical and accurate in their approach.
- Confident communicating with colleagues at all levels.
- Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, approachable and willing to learn.
- A team player who can also work independently and use their initiative.
Previous HR or payroll administration experience would be advantageous, as would a CIPD Level 3 qualification or experience within manufacturing. However, these are not essential for the right candidate.
