Are you an experienced Project Health & Safety Manager / HSE Manager looking for your next major infrastructure challenge?
We are working with a global specialist in high-voltage cable systems to appoint a Project Health & Safety Manager to support major HVDC transmission projects in Scotland.
These complex projects involve onshore, underground and subsea cable installation, working with multiple contractors, stakeholders and project teams. You'll play a key role in ensuring Health & Safety is embedded throughout project planning and delivery.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the Health & Safety agenda across your project, combining leadership with hands-on involvement across operational sites, installation activities, vessels and subcontractor facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and managing project H&S plans, RAMS reviews, emergency plans, HAZIDs, audits and other H&S deliverables.
• Integrating Health & Safety requirements and risk controls into project planning and execution.
• Leading risk assessments, H&S audits and incident investigations.
• Monitoring H&S performance, KPIs, risks and non-conformities.
• Managing and monitoring subcontractor H&S performance.
• Acting as the H&S interface with clients, contractors, vessel owners and internal teams.
• Supporting and coaching project teams to develop a strong safety culture.
• Facilitating lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Managing and coordinating Project H&S Advisors across multiple work sites.
• Providing H&S input into tenders and operational planning.
About You
We're looking for an experienced H&S professional with a strong background in major construction, engineering, energy or infrastructure projects.
You'll ideally have:
• Proven project HSE / Health & Safety management experience.
• Strong knowledge of RAMS, risk assessments, HAZIDs, audits and incident investigation.
• Experience managing or influencing subcontractor H&S performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, proactive approach and the confidence to influence at all levels.
• A recognised H&S qualification such as NEBOSH diploma/certificate or equivalent.
Experience in energy, utilities, HV transmission, offshore, marine, cable installation or major infrastructure would be particularly advantageous.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to work on technically complex HVDC infrastructure projects involving subsea cable installation, underground construction and major civil engineering works.
You'll have significant responsibility, international project exposure and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on Health & Safety across a major energy infrastructure programme.
