Lead Site Manager – School Refurbishment Project (6–8 Weeks)

We are seeking an experienced Lead Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a £300,000 school refurbishment project on behalf of our client.

This is a fast-paced refurbishment programme within a live educational environment, requiring an organised and proactive individual with a proven track record of delivering high-quality refurbishment projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Scope of Works

The project includes:

• Science laboratory refurbishment
• Refurbishment of meeting rooms
• Refurbishment of a common area
• Coordination of subcontractors and daily site activities
• Maintaining programme and quality standards throughout the project

Key Responsibilities

• Overall management of the site and day-to-day operations
• Managing subcontractors, suppliers, and site logistics
• Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with HSE regulations
• Delivering the project to programme, budget, and quality expectations
• Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings
• Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress to the project team
• Liaising professionally with the client, school representatives, and stakeholders
• Ensuring minimal disruption within the live school environment

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment projects
• Previous experience working within schools or occupied/public buildings is highly desirable
• Valid SMSTS
• Valid CSCS Black or Gold Card
• Valid First Aid at Work certificate
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain programme

Mandatory Requirement

Applicants MUST hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate issued within the last 3 years. This is a strict requirement due to the nature of the project, and applications without a current Enhanced DBS will not be considered.
