Learning Coach (LSA) – Spanish Speaking

Sixth Form College | SEND / Additional Learning Support

Location:  South London

We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient and supportive Spanish-speaking Learning Coach to work with students aged 16–19 within a sixth-form college environment.

The successful candidate will provide individualised academic and pastoral support to students with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia and other neurodiverse needs. A key part of the role will be supporting a Spanish-speaking student, so fluency in both Spanish and English is essential.

The Role

Working closely with teaching staff, the SEND/Additional Learning Support team and other professionals, you will help students access their studies, develop confidence and become increasingly independent learners.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group learning support
  • Supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and related learning needs
  • Using Spanish where appropriate to support communication, understanding and engagement
  • Helping students understand lesson content, assignments and instructions
  • Supporting organisation, planning, time management and executive-functioning skills
  • Breaking down tasks and information into manageable steps
  • Helping students develop effective study strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation, confidence and engagement with college life
  • Encouraging independence rather than creating dependency
  • Liaising appropriately with teachers and the Additional Learning Support/SEND team
  • Contributing to student support plans and recording progress where required

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is fluent in Spanish and English
  • Has experience supporting young people with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and/or other SEND
  • Has experience working in education, learning support, youth work, mentoring or a similar environment
  • Understands that neurodiverse students may require different approaches to communication, organisation and learning
  • Is patient, reliable, encouraging and able to build positive professional relationships
  • Can adapt their approach to meet individual students’ needs
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understands professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Is committed to promoting students’ independence, aspirations and progression

Experience of supporting students in a sixth form, further education or post-16 setting would be particularly welcomed.
