Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or SEND Support Worker looking for a rewarding role in a secondary school? Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary academy in Havering.

This is an excellent opportunity to support students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) achieve their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the inclusion team to provide tailored support for students who require additional help with learning, communication, organisation, confidence, or emotional regulation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 within mainstream classroom settings
  • Assisting students with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning needs
  • Breaking down tasks and adapting learning activities to improve understanding and engagement
  • Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions where required
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff
  • Promoting independence, resilience, and positive behaviour for learning
  • Supporting pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
  • Helping to create a calm, inclusive, and positive classroom environment

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, mentor, youth worker, or in another education or support role
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties (highly desirable)
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach
  • Confidence working in a busy secondary school environment
  • The ability to use initiative and respond effectively to individual student needs
  • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term position
