Health & Social Care Assessor / Trainer

Location: Regional (Workplace & Training Centre)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

Salary: £27,000-£31,500

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Social Care Assessor to join an established apprenticeship team. In this role, you will manage a caseload of learners undertaking Health and Social Care qualifications from Level 1 up to Level 4. You will plan and conduct assessments in the workplace, deliver engaging training, and support learners through every stage of their apprenticeship journey to ensure timely completion and End Point Assessment (EPA) success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Assessment: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality vocational training to individuals and groups both on-site and in the workplace. Assess learner competence and provide constructive written and verbal feedback.

  • Employer Liaison: Partner with employers to design off-the-job training plans, conduct initial workplace health and safety appraisals, and ensure learning directly aligns with workplace needs.

  • Progress Tracking: Conduct regular progress reviews, manage electronic e-portfolio records (using OneFile), and maintain accurate reports on attendance, performance, and achievement.

  • Curriculum & Functional Skills: Embed English and maths into vocational delivery, working closely with specialist teams to ensure well-rounded development.

  • EPA Preparation: Guide and prepare apprentices for their End Point Assessment to help them achieve top grades.

  • Onboarding Support: Work alongside business development teams to assist with candidate recruitment, initial assessments, and onboarding.

  • Quality & Development: Participate in standardisation and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities, team meetings, open events, and ongoing CPD.

Requirements

  • Proven experience assessing or teaching Health & Social Care qualifications (Levels 1-4).

  • Relevant vocational qualification in Health & Social Care.

  • Recognized assessor qualification (e.g., CAVA, TAQA, A1, or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards one.

  • Strong familiarity with e-portfolio systems (such as OneFile) and electronic diary management.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with learners and employers.

  • A flexible approach to working hours and willingness to support key organizational events.
