Local Housing Officer (Temporary)

  • Location: Clapham Park, London
  • Rate of pay: £22.65 PAYE or £29.78 Umbrella per hour
  • Contract: Temporary until October 2026 (possible extension)
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2-3 days office/site based
  • Patch: Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham & Clapham Park West

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Local Housing Officer to deliver excellent housing services across a mixed portfolio of rented, shared ownership and leasehold homes.

You'll be the main point of contact for residents, managing tenancy issues, anti-social behaviour cases, estate services and customer enquiries while working closely with local authorities, contractors and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a housing patch and build positive relationships with residents.
  • Handle tenancy matters including mutual exchanges, successions and assignments.
  • Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches.
  • Carry out estate inspections and monitor contractor performance.
  • Resolve complaints and support vulnerable residents.
  • Manage service charge queries and tenancy-related issues.
  • Conduct property viewings, tenancy sign-ups and settling-in visits.
  • Support rent arrears management through resident engagement and referrals.
  • Work with local stakeholders, councillors and community groups to improve neighbourhoods.

About You

  • Previous housing management experience within social housing.
  • Knowledge of tenancy management, ASB and housing legislation.
  • Experience working with leasehold and shared ownership customers.
  • Strong customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage a varied workload and work independently.
  • Good IT and report-writing skills.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the patch.

  • Temporary contract until October 2026 with potential to extend.
