An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Shift Engineer to join one of the UK's most respected food manufacturing businesses. With over a century of expertise in their field and a strong commitment to innovation, investment, and continuous improvement, they are seeking a proactive engineer to become part of their highly skilled engineering team at their modern production facility just outside Melton Mowbray.
This is far more than a traditional maintenance role. While responding to breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance will form part of the position, the successful candidate will also play a key role in driving engineering improvements, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting the installation of new machinery and capital projects.
The site continues to benefit from significant investment, with state-of-the-art production and packaging equipment and ambitious plans for future growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
- Collaborate closely with production teams and fellow engineers.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and hygiene standards at all times.
- Share knowledge and best practice across engineering shifts.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Electrician within a manufacturing environment.
- An apprenticeship qualification or equivalent engineering background.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices.
- The ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping abilities.
- Salary up to £47,689 per annum (including shift allowance)
