As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at our Peterborough headquarters.

The Role

We are looking for a highly capable and detail-driven Financial Accountant who takes genuine pride in maintaining accurate accounts, strong financial controls and a balance sheet that ties perfectly every month.

This is a hands-on financial accounting position with responsibility for maintaining the integrity of our financial records, delivering a disciplined month-end close and ensuring reconciliations, ledgers and supporting schedules are accurate and audit-ready.

This is not primarily an FP&A, strategy or commercial business partnering position. We are looking for someone who enjoys the fundamentals of excellent financial accounting: accuracy, control, reconciliation and getting the detail right.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will also work closely with colleagues across Finance, Sales, Operations and Customer Service to ensure information flows accurately through the business and supports reliable financial reporting.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will take ownership of daily and weekly bank reconciliations and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations across all control accounts, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved rather than carried forward.

You will maintain clean and well-structured ledgers, prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed-asset postings, and play a key role in managing the month-end close process and timetable.

As part of month-end, you will prepare the draft monthly P&L and balance sheet, ensuring every material balance has appropriate supporting schedules and a clear audit trail.

A key part of the position will be strengthening our overall financial hygiene. You will help identify and clear historical reconciliation discrepancies, improve accounting processes and documentation, and maintain high standards of financial control across the function.

You will also assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, complete VAT returns, support year-end processes, prepare audit-ready working papers and schedules, and liaise with external accountants where required.

From time to time, you will also provide additional financial analysis and accounting support to the wider Finance team.

About You

You will ideally have 3–7+ years of accounting experience, with strong hands-on experience in financial accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close.

Experience working within an SME or fast-growing organisation would be particularly valuable, as you will need to be comfortable working in an environment where accuracy, pace and personal ownership are equally important.

Xero experience is essential, alongside strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and the ability to build clear and reliable financial schedules.

You will be methodical, dependable and exceptionally detail-focused. You don't simply identify an unexplained balance and move on — you investigate it, understand it and resolve it.

This role will particularly suit someone who enjoys bringing order and clarity to financial information and takes satisfaction from knowing the books are accurate, reconciled and properly supported.
