Mechanical Designer - Water & Process
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Contract: 12-month rolling contract
IR35: Outside IR35
Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the Bury office
Rate: Up to £500 per day
We are recruiting a Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer for a long-term contract supporting the design and delivery of water, wastewater and process engineering projects.
The assignment is offered on a 12-month rolling contract, outside IR35, with hybrid working and three days per week based from Bury.
Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical engineering designs, drawings and calculations for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and process plant.
- Develop mechanical design requirements from client remits.
- Produce and develop P&IDs, general arrangement drawings and equipment schedules.
- Interpret process flow information and equipment specifications.
- Develop practical engineering solutions that meet project requirements.
- Develop and maintain engineering and design standards.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, project and other design disciplines.
- Attend project sites when required.
Experience required
- Mechanical design experience within water, wastewater, utilities, industrial, energy or infrastructure environments.
- Experience designing pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and/or process plant.
- Strong capability developing and interpreting P&IDs and GA layouts.
- Experience working with process information and equipment specifications.
- 2D AutoCAD experience is essential.
- SolidWorks experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of CDM and temporary/permanent works requirements.
- Familiarity with WIMES, Sewerage Sector Guidance and relevant mechanical/process standards would be advantageous.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
