Freelance Mechanical Project Manager – Wastewater Projects
Location: North Wales (multiple project sites)
Contract: Freelance (CIS) with the opportunity to become permanent
Rate: £450–£550 per day (CIS)
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our team on a freelance basis, delivering a portfolio of new-build wastewater infrastructure projects across North Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven project manager seeking a long-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent position.
You'll take ownership of multiple mechanical projects from pre-construction through to commissioning, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing multiple new-build wastewater treatment and pumping station projects across North Wales.
- Planning and delivering projects safely, on programme, within budget, and to specification.
- Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist contractors.
- Managing procurement, project programmes, and resource allocation.
- Monitoring project costs, commercial performance, and reporting progress to senior management.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.
- Supporting commissioning activities and successful project handover.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the water or wastewater sector.
- Experience delivering new-build wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, or process mechanical installations.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live schemes.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability.
- Full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
