We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable main dealership in Burton upon Trent, for the position of Prep Technician / MOT Tester. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced motor trade professionals seeking to enhance their career within a supportive and professional environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle preparation and MOT testing, with ongoing manufacturer training and competitive earning potential.

Benefits for the successful MOT Tester:
  • Starting salary of £30,000 per annum
  • Productivity bonus of up to £3,000 annually
  • OTE £35,000+ including bonus and overtime
  • Overtime paid at time and a half
  • Working hours of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • 1 in 2 Saturday mornings (8:00am – 12:00pm) paid at overtime rates

Duties of the MOT Tester:
  • Perform vehicle preparation work on used vehicles to high standards
  • Conduct MOT testing in accordance with DVSA regulations
  • Carry out routine servicing, including oil and filter changes
  • Replace consumable items such as oil filters and other service parts
  • Conduct vehicle health checks and identify additional work needed
  • Ensure all work complies with manufacturer standards
  • Maintain accurate workshop documentation and job records
  • Keep the workshop area clean, safe, and organised
Requirements of the MOT Tester:
  • Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (or equivalent)
  • Valid MOT Tester Licence
  • Prior experience as a Prep Technician or Vehicle Technician
  • Confident in providing servicing and vehicle preparation
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented approach
