Operations Director in Surrey

The organisation provides nursing, residential, dementia, and specialist rehabilitation services and is continuing to invest in the development and growth of its portfolio. This is a senior position with responsibility for providing strong operational leadership across multiple services, while working closely with the CEO, and Board.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care and governance while also driving commercial performance, operational efficiency and future growth.
There is also scope for the role to develop into a broader group-level leadership position as part of the organisation's succession planning.
Key Responsibilities of the Operations Director
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across a multi-site care portfolio.
- Lead and develop a senior operational team, promoting accountability and high performance.
- Maintain consistently high standards of safe, effective and person-centred care.
- Oversee CQC compliance, quality governance, auditing and continuous improvement.
- Manage operational budgets and take ownership of revenue, EBITDA and wider commercial performance.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with CQC, Local Authorities, ICBs, commissioners and other key stakeholders.
- Support the mobilisation, integration and development of new services.
- Provide operational oversight of Care at Home and Complex Care services.
- Drive improvements in revenue and EBITDA across specialist rehabilitation services.
- Monitor performance across new and developing services and implement improvement plans where required.
- Work alongside the CEO, COO and Board to support the organisation's wider strategy and continued growth.
- Embed a positive culture focused on engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Significant senior operational experience within an elderly care or nursing home environment.
- Previous experience at Regional Director, Operations Director or equivalent level.
- Experience managing multiple care services and leading senior operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of CQC requirements, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Proven commercial experience, including responsibility for budgets, revenue and EBITDA.
- Good understanding of occupancy, staffing levels, agency expenditure and operational performance.
- Experience working with CQC, Local Authorities, ICBs, commissioners and other external stakeholders.
- Experience of service mobilisation, new developments, acquisitions or operational transformation would be beneficial.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to support and challenge senior managers effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence operating at Board and senior stakeholder level.
- Commercially focused with the ability to make effective decisions within a growing and evolving organisation.
- Available to regularly commute across the organisation's services throughout Surrey and the wider South East.
