Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with Krystal Technology UK Ltd, a specialist manufacturer of high-purity fused quartz and fused silica components serving the semiconductor, photonics, industrial and scientific sectors, with their search for an experienced Project Engineer.

Overall Purpose:

  • Support the delivery of engineering projects across our manufacturing operation from concept through to completion.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and international colleagues, you will coordinate multiple engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • The role combines practical engineering knowledge with structured project management and offers exposure to bespoke manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver engineering projects from concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions to improve manufacturing processes, equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Produce, review and modify mechanical designs and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor supporting installations, collaborating with operations, troubleshooting engineering issues and overseeing project activities.
  • Specify, source and implement new plant, machinery and engineering equipment.
  • Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to minimise disruption during project implementation.
  • Coordinate contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
  • Assist with mechanical assembly, equipment trials, testing and commissioning where required.
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend engineering improvements.
  • Prepare technical specifications, risk assessments and engineering documentation.
  • Manage project costs, schedules and technical deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement activities using practical engineering knowledge.
  • Liaise with international colleagues, suppliers and contractors on technical projects, with occasional overseas travel as required.

Key Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in a hands-on Project Engineering role within manufacturing, delivering engineering or capital projects.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with a good understanding of electrical systems.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Excellent project planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMP or equivalent) would be advantageous.
  • Experience within the oil and gas, process manufacturing or industrial engineering sectors would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with international teams or multinational organisations.
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, industrial gases, high-temperature manufacturing processes and Lean/Continuous Improvement principles would be advantageous.
