Project Manager – Earthworks
Location: Lower Thames Crossing, Essex/Kent
Salary: £50,000–£75,000, depending on experience, plus package
Travel: Must be willing to travel and lodge across the UK for future projects
We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager to join a specialist earthworks contractor, initially delivering works on the Lower Thames Crossing.
You will lead an earthworks delivery team, taking responsibility for safe, productive and commercially successful operations. This opportunity suits someone with strong earthworks knowledge who enjoys managing teams, planning resources and taking ownership of project delivery.
Key responsibilities

Lead the delivery of earthworks packages to programme, budget and specification.

Plan earthmoving operations, coordinating plant, labour and materials to achieve production targets.

Produce resourced programmes and working budgets, monitoring progress, productivity and costs.

Manage operational constraints, materials handling and interfaces with adjoining work areas.

Lead and develop site teams, allocating responsibilities and maintaining clear communication.

Work closely with commercial, engineering, health and safety, and central support teams.

Maintain strong relationships with the client and other project stakeholders.

Report progress, risks and emerging issues to senior management.

Ensure personnel work safely and plant and equipment are appropriately maintained and inspected.

Identify practical improvements to safety, efficiency and cost performance.
Experience and skills required

Proven experience managing bulk and linear earthworks operations.

Strong knowledge of earthmoving methods, plant selection, production outputs and modern technologies.

A thorough understanding of earthworks specifications, material suitability and handling constraints.

Experience producing resourced programmes and managing delivery against budgets.

Good commercial awareness and confident decision-making.

Strong leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

A sound understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.

Working knowledge of relevant employment requirements and Working Rule Agreement terms.

A relevant CSCS card.
Location and future opportunities
The initial assignment is on the Lower Thames Crossing. Candidates must be open to travelling and lodging away from home across the UK for subsequent projects.
