Quality Inspector

Do you have hands-on experience with Faro Arms, CMMs and dimensional inspection equipment?

We are recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join an established engineering business, inspecting precision-manufactured products to ensure they meet customer specifications, engineering drawings and required quality standards.

This is a hands-on inspection role suited to a Quality Inspector who enjoys working in a technical engineering environment and has strong attention to detail.

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, recording and reporting product quality in line with work instructions, engineering drawings and customer requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating a range of inspection and measurement equipment, including micrometers, height gauges and verniers/calipers
• Operating a Faro Portable Measuring Arm
• Operating CMM equipment
• Carrying out detailed dimensional inspection and measurement
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and customer quality specifications
• Applying knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Inspecting a variety of thread types, including Stub Acme, Metric, Square, Trapezoidal and Unified
• Understanding surface condition requirements and testing
• Completing First Off Inspection
• Carrying out equipment calibration and ensuring inspection equipment is maintained
• Creating and amending inspection reports using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Completing quality documentation and labour bookings
• Supporting investigations into non-conformances, CAPA and customer complaints
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintaining accurate quality records and ensuring inspection processes remain effective
• Working in accordance with ISO 9001, company procedures and QHSE requirements

We are looking for a Quality Inspector with previous experience in a similar role within a precision engineering, manufacturing or machining environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector / Quality Technician / Inspection Engineer
• An Engineering qualification or time-served engineering background
• Strong experience using dimensional inspection equipment
• Experience with Faro Measuring Arms – ESSENTIAL
• Experience with CMM inspection
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of GD&T
• Experience carrying out first-off and dimensional inspection
• Knowledge of quality requirements and inspection documentation
• An understanding of ISO 9001
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards
• Good organisational and planning skills
• The ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement

CMM programming and Faro Arm programming experience would be highly desirable.
